Amazing Jewelry

So technically this could be added to the whole "I love Olympia" list because I found an amazing ring while I was there. I just noticed that the inside of the ring had a name printed on it, and low and behold when I typed in into Google....VOILA...the website. Home to many other amazing pieces of jewelry. If you know me, you know I LOVE interesting jewelry (perhaps a jewelry box blog entry is in order.)

So check the website out yourself, fantastic stuff for sure. I have my eye on this necklace!

That amazing Target!

Target released their 2006 Christmas catalog and lucky me got one in the mail. I actually thought it was a Nordstrom catalog when I first grabbed it. What an excellent job they've done!! Can I just say I would pretty much take anything out of this catalog?! I especially like the sock monkey slippers though!

I love Olympia...reason number 1

Spending time with the family on Thanksgiving!! Yippee!
Bill and I arrived in Olympia this morning after waking up at 3:30 AM for our flight. It was a nice relaxing day followed by a nice and delicious meal. I really do love Thanksgiving food. I sure hope this plate wasn't packed with over 200 grams of fat!

What the?!

When you go to San Francisco you will find signs for the scenic route, and if you follow these signs you will see all sorts of sites in the city.
Apparently, in Sacramento, we have these as well but they show us scenic drive thrus. The first one I have seen is at the Jimboys Tacos drive thru downtown. Such a spectacular site!

Overheard on the plane....

Little girl (about 4): "Mommy what are we inside right now?"

Mom: "We're inside an airplane honey."

Little girl (turning to her sister about 12): "Sunny, guess what....we're inside of an airplane!!"

Watch out!!

So, I just saw something online that said that the average Thanksgiving dinner is 3000 calories and 229 grams of fat! Holy smokes. I guess I'll use one less scoop of gravy this year!

Gobblerfest 2006

Gobblerfest was fantastic! The food was delicious and the house was rockin with vinyl spinning. It was a small gathering this year, but made for a very nice change! We smoked a bird and I made the annual greenbeans, stuffing and mashed potatoes. Bacon also deep fried a turkey so we had two birds this year. I made the "stupid dip" in honor of Wendy and of course it was a hit as always. Today we're feeling a little tired, a little hung over and happy to be having leftover turkey sandwiches already!!
*I can assure you the food tasted a whole lot better than it looks in this picture!! Thanksgiving meals are so neutral in color. You can also see more pictures from this event on flickr.

The Shirt

Tonight is our Gobblerfest party! It's going to be a small one this year, but I'm very excited about it. Bill started having this party 13 years ago when he didn't go to Washington with his family for Thanksgiving. Then it got moved to the weekend before Thanksgiving. I decided to surprise him this year and had a concert like shirt made for the event. Friends have ordered them and I have one for he and I to wear as well. I can't wait!!
I have to give a HUGE thanks to Dean and Becki for helping me pull this shirt off. I couldn't have done it without you guys!

Horrorfest

There was an event this weekend called Horrorfest where various theatres around town were showing 8 movies that were "too terrifying" to show in the theatre in a normal running. Chris, Bill and I decided to check it out. We went and saw a movie called "Unrest" and had a little dinner at Hooters first.

The movie was awful. Cheesy and just not scary at all. I actually am only speaking about half of the movie because I had to bail out as I got suddenly ill. So it turned out that dinner at Hooters and puking in the theatre bathroom were the ultimate horror of my horrorfest night!

A place to sit...

I've had this gnome tattoo for almost 11 years now and it's always been one of my favorites. It had started to fade and really needed to be touched up. My mom was not a fan of me getting tattoos when I first started, but she always really liked this one. Only thing was she thought it wasn't complete. The gnome originally was just kind of floating above my ankle and mom always thought it should sit on a mushroom. The more I looked at it the more I agreed and after years I finally did it! So, this in the final artwork. The old tattoo was refreshed with some new outlines and color and the mushroom was added and I LOVE it! Thanks Mom!

Oh, and to all those people who asked me if it hurt before on the ankle and I said, "No, not really." I WAS TOTALLY LYING!!

Isn't My Tea Cozy??

All I have to say is adorable. I'm always so happy when I can go to a thrift store, spend .69 cents and leave this happy!!

Ray Lamontagne

Went to see lovely Ray tonight! He was amazing as usual, but nothing will top the first show. There were some sound issues at the show last night. Even more annoying was the lively audience and their obnoxious rantings. For those of you that haven't seen Ray before, he's an amazing powerful singer....and a super quiet shy speaker. He comes over very timid until he starts belting out tunes. So, when people are crying out, "Take off your shirt!" you know you are going to have a problem. I dreaded the end of every song because I didn't want to know what people were going holler next. Ray did well though and probably had the most interaction with the crowd ever!

The show was at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland which has to be one of the most beautiful theatres ever. The picture is of the ceiling which is just spectaculr! The other bonus was as Rebecca and I were walking out we noticed a handout for an upcoming Damien Rice show!! Can't beat that...my two favorite musicians right now!

My demise...

Wendy posted a link today that tells you how your life will come to an end. Morbid I know, but her last name is Grimm! Here were my results:

"Stacey Severson: At age 75 you will drown in a wading pool under mysterious circumstances. The only clue will be a small blue pacifier found around your neck."

Mysterious, yes...... Impossible.....no!

You can find out how it's all going to end for you by visiting:

Be sure to leave me a comment on how it's all going to end for you!!!

These are a few of my favorite things....

The last couple posts have been full of ranting and raving so I thought I would put something positive on here! A coworker turned me onto a Celestine's Tea called Vanilla Maple and boy is it delicious. I so far can only find it at Whole Foods, but if you run across some anywhere else please let me know.

Then, while shopping at my local Compton's Market, I ran across a Vanilla Maple yogurt. Intrigued by the tea, I had to try it. It is some of the best yogurt I have ever had!! I've been slicing up some pears in it and it is delicious.

I think everyone needs to give the combination of Vanilla and Maple a little try!

Any less of a man?

Our friend G came by last weekend for dinner and of course brought some brewskis with him. These weren't your everyday average beers....these were mini me beers!! Coors is making these little 8oz can of Coors Light and they are absolutely hilarious. Who are the meant for? Are they for dieters who are really trying to cut back on the "empty calorie" intake? For designated drivers who just want a "little something" to drink? I think Coors should go on a whole advertisement campaign with these. Instead of silver bullets they can be marketed silver bb's. I think their target audience would have to be ladies with these cause I just can't see a guy looking very manly drinking out of one considering that you can't even see it in their hands! It kind of goes hand in hand with drinking out of a straw.

Don't worry G....the Wild Turkey in your other hand earned you back the man points you lost with the mini beers!!

Saving the world one Ziploc at a time!

Flew home today from the Long Beach airport and oh what fun I had. In the past three weeks I have flown out of Sacramento twice and out of Orange County once and with the other traveling I do I learn the ins and outs of the "Security Check." Wear limited jewelry, flip flops and no belt.

On the trip home I was asked by the super security officer, "Do you have any lipgloss in your bag?" I in fact did, but the lipgloss and hand sanitzer has been in my bag everytime I've gone through Security since the whole liquid scare. It's not just floating around in my bag, but all in a nice little makeup zipper pouch. I was told that all these items needed to be a in quart sized Ziploc bag or I would have to throw them away. I could obtain a Ziploc from the Gift Store at the airport, which meant going out of the security and into another building then come back through and repeat the process over again with my Ziploc in tow. I told the Security officer that no other airport has made me do this and to just throw it away to which he argued that it was such a waste and I should really go get a Ziploc.

I succumbed, but this all made me wonder....what the heck is this Ziploc accomplishing. Is the Ziploc material some super power kryptonite that will make any hazardous combust?! What is this Ziploc doing that my cosmetic case is not? Now I normally don't get uptight about these things, but these security steps are really getting ridiculous. I'm so glad to know that I'm keeping the world and all flights safe by keeping my items in this Ziploc.

Oh, and to the lady who was in line behind me on my return trip through security:

I don't think anyone saw me smuggle your lipglosses in my Ziploc!! I'm glad I saved you a trip to the Gift Shop!!

Cherry Tomato

Let me just start by saying NEVER buy a Chevy Aveo. First off, if you can nickname a car "Cherry Tomato" it may not be a car you want to drive around. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm all about the little cars but there is an economy version of the said Aveo that rental agencies like to hand out. Let me just point out the things I don't like about the economy Aveo:

1. If you drive over 60 you feel as if you are losing control of the car and it may go sliding into the side walls of the freeway at any moment.

2. You have to hand crank down the windows.

3. You have to hand push down the door locks.

4. The drivers side door actually has to be locked from the outside with a key as there is no way to hand push it down.

5. When you are 5'10" you look absolutely ridiculous climbing out of the car.

6. The shifter (although it's automatic) is sticky and annoying.

Now, some of the above list may be trite. I know there was a time we all locked our doors and rolled down our windows manually. We also wore MC Hammer pants and had big bangs...neither of which I plan on bringing back!! The only plus I can say is there is absolutely NO risk of locking your keys in the car, but there is risk of not locking the car and having something stolen. Then again if there is a thief out there that would be enticed by this vehicle please speak now!!

LA again...

I'm down in Los Angeles again! Let me just start by saying that it HOT AS HELL down here. I was wearing jeans and sweatshirt just moment ago in Sacramento and now I'm back in 95 degrees!! I definitely didn't pack for 95 degrees.

The bonus is I get to hang out with Bill. He had to come down here for some equipment training so it's one of the few times we get to travel together for work. I think he feels like he's melting down here!

The Letter

People have asked what Frances wrote about me in the nomination letter. So here it is.*

*Kleenex may be required during the reading of this post.

Hi my name is Frances. I got into this program when I was 11 1/2, but two months later I was 12. I was having a hard time with my dad, he had just got out of my life. He didn't want to be in my life anymore but it is ok cause I am use to that with him. He wants to see me when he is good and ready. Now that I am in this program I met a sister named Stacey. Now that I met her it replaces my loss. I had got into this program on August 23,2005. This was a special day cause I got to meet Stacey. She was the best person I had ever met. She's not fake like my dad, she's the real deal. She taught me many new things like a new way to sew that's faster and better also we are in the process of learning how to knit. I like Stacey a whole lot. She fills the empty space in my heart. I hope we stay together forever, I care for her and I know inside she cares for me. Why does Stacey deserve to win sister of the year award, because she's not just a sister she's a friend. Stacey does alot of fun things with me like movies, marine world, the circus, San Francisco and many many more. When our six months was up a month later we had a sleep over. Usually I wouldn't sleep, but this time I slept like a baby. I felt good about that because that means I am comfortable with her and I am. Stacey also deserves to win this because we like to do new things like when we went to Marine World we touched a dolphin, it felt like rubber. We rode an elephant, if you ever want to don't cause it hurts a whole lot. It's bumpy and the way that you sit..ouch. We also fed a seal and the dolphin. This was the first time doing any of these great things. When we fed them I touched a fish, a real dead fish. Yuck! But it was dead thank god and it was frozen. When we went to San Francisco we went to the aquarium and we got to touch a starfish and a tiger shark. Stacey makes me feel part of her family. When I went to Stacey's dinner party I got to meet her brother, his wife and Jason their son. I also got to meet her sister Tami, her two kids and husband. I also got to meet her dad, he was funny. I even met the family doctor. On our anniversary Stacey bought me and her matching bracelets, it says Sister and inside Make the best friends. And it is true because we are best friends. She's like my real sister and I tell people she is. I really like her personality and I even like her funny boyfriend Bill and her family. Stacey is a great sister. I hope we keep in touch when I am an adult, I'll never forget her. Stacey isn't a volunteer to this program, she is my sister. She is nice and polite and she treats me with a lot of respect. She shows me an awesome time. Not a good or great time, an awesome time. We are also similar to each other. We both have allergies, we don't like to shop in malls, we like to read, we are crafty and lastly out going and many more. Stacey is a role model to me like my mom. Stacey is an awesome big sister to me and I'm glad I got to be her lil sister. Stacey deserves this award more than anyone I know. I wanted to enter her cause she deserves it. I don't like Stacey, I love her, she's family to me.

I Won!!

So, tonight was the "Big" event! I was nominated for Big Sister of the Year and I WON!!! It was fantastic. Frances wrote the nicest letter about me and read it out loud in front of an audience of about 300 plus people. It took everything I had to not have tears running down my face. This has been one of the most fantastic days of my life. I'm so honored to be Big Sister of the Year and will carry my trophy around with me as if I just won an Oscar!

Mickey and Friends

Went to Disney on Ice today with the Family. The kids were enthralled with it and probably sat more still than they ever have in their lives. My favorite thing was the dalmation hat that came free with with the cotton candy, although can you really call it "free" when the cotton candy was $10?! I made sure and got a picture of everyone with it on. I think Ethan liked it the least, but I managed to click before it was ripped off!

You're not fooling me...

Listen here "Fruity Cheerios," I have you all figured out. You come in, acting all new but you are just Fruit Loops in a different box. You can tease me with having Cheerios in your name, but I know you will taste delicious at first and then ultimately make the roof of my mouth feel raw. I'm not buying it Fruity Cheerios! There's something fruity going on here besides your flavor!!
