Cardigan

I went against everything that I said and got a strapless dress (which is all I'm going to tell you about it!) I know that I'm going to want to cover myself though at some point through out the night. My first thought is a cardigan. J Crew (of course) has some very nice chocolate brown cardigans, but they just came out with a print that I like with both brown and blue in it. What do you think.....chocolate brown or print??

John From Cincinnati

I've been watching this show on HBO called "John From Cincinnati." I started watching it because it's being directed by David Milch, the same guy that did "Deadwood." I'm a big fan of his writing style so I thought I would give it a try. I think it's about 8 episodes in now and I still have NO IDEA what is going on, yet I still am intrigued enough to watch it. Is there anyone out there that gets what is going on with this show and can shed some light?? I'm going to continue watching it until I get to the bottom of it....or it gets taken off the air, whichever happens first!

The Mystery Spot

Today Frances and I went to The Mystery Spot in Santa Cruz. For those that have never been there before, The Mystery Spot is this land in the mountains of Santa Cruz where the laws of gravity don't always apply. This roll up when they should roll down and when you are there you appear to lean quit drastically. It's very weird, and if it is all a trick they are doing a great job at it! Plus our tour guide looked like Velma from Scooby Doo, which is almost as big of a mystery.
Overall, the whole Santa Cruz trip was a blast! You can see all the pictures from the trip on Flickr.

Kwik-E-Mart!!!

Frances and I took a trip to Santa Cruz this weekend and before we left I realized that one of the Simpson's Kwik-E-Marts is in Mountain View. Of course we HAD to go! It was fun checking it out. They did a really great job on the outside. Unfortunately the inside had all these boxes lying around. I think it's soo busy with customers they didn't have a chance to unload the orders that were coming in. Frances and I both got a squishee and were tempted by the frosted pink donuts but had to pass. You can see all the pictures on Flickr.

I love shoes!

In Sacramento there is this great shoe stored called Shoefly. I used to be a big shoe fanatic and went quite a bit, but since my job has changed I don't really have the ability to wear all the cute shoes I used to. I haven't gone to Shoefly in a LONG time, but they were having a huge sale today so I went to check it out and ended up with two fantastic shoes!! I'm absolutely in LOVE with the heels. The boots are going to be great when it gets a little warmer, so for now they will have to just rest in my closet.

Wedding Logo

I am now a firm believer that everyone should have a logo! Lucky for me I have my friend Becki to help me out with these things. I know that I posted a while back about the horseshoe that I got tattooed on the back of my neck because it was part of the wedding logo. I just realized that I've never actually posted the wedding logo! So, here you go. Basically it's being printed on invites and other various things to tie everything together. I love it!!

Popularity Dialer

Everday I get an email from a website called Daily Candy. Basically they send out fun things that they find. This could be a website, a restaurant, clothes, products, etc. Yesterday I got one that I find fascinating and very odd. It's call The Popularity Dialer. Basically this is sold that if you've ever been somewhere and wished you could get a phone call, then the popularity dialer will do that. You give it your number and tell it when you would like a call and what type of call you would like and you're phone will ring. There's about 6 different types of call to choose from, I'm leaning towards the Male English Lover call myself. It's a pretty funny concept that I would never use, but I really wonder if there is a big market for this?! Guess I'll have to check back on the site in 6 months and see if it's still running. You can check it out at: www.popularitydialer.com

Crab Louie

I had a garage sale a while back and Sprout, aka Kim, aka Mr. Cokeley gave Louie a cute stuffed crab from Joe's Crab Shack. Now, when Louie gets toys he usually rips them into shreds within minutes but so far Louie has been really treating this crab nice. Bill and I laugh cause when he puts it in his mouth it makes his cheeks puff out. He really loves his crab!!

I think I need......an Ipod?

I was in Macy's to pick something up and when I went down the escalator I noticed that there was a HUGE vending machine. This wasn't your everyday snack/soda machine....this was an IPod vending machine. I love my IPod. I use it all the time and I think it's a great product. On the other hand, I don't know when I would ever be wandering around Macy's and suddenly decide that what I'm looking for is an IPod. Very weird concept to me!!

Simpsonize Me

Burger King has this site where you can upload a picture of yourself and have it turned into a Simpsons character. This works way better than the one on the Simpson Movie site. It was pretty fun, although it took FOREVER for it to work correctly and took a bit to get it to look somewhat like me. So here you are! Here is what I would look like if I were a Simpson's character. What a blond bombshell I am! You can make one too at www.simpsonizeme.com.

Sooo disturbing!!!

I was in Raley's today for work and saw something that really bothered me. At one of the cafe tables were about 5 boys, who I would guess were around 10 years old. They were all sitting there drinking copious amounts of energy drinks. Each of them put down about two in a matter of around 30 minutes at the most. They were very visibly affected by them, shaking their legs, watering eyes, one was even sitting there embracing his body and looking ill. Everyone in the cafe was sitting and watching the scene, some staring in amazement and others laughing. I personally wanted to walk over and start grabbing boys by the ears and pour the drinks over their heads while I dragged them outside. I know I work for a coffee company, and am a slinger of caffeine but I DEFINITELY don't think this is something that a 10 year old needs. Or most adults for that matter. There really be some regulation against kids buying these drinks. Boy do I sound like a parent.

Great Sale!

I love a good sale, and was excited to see that J Crew had all their clearance items at an additional 50% off. There was a purse I was eyeing to take to Mexico about a month ago for $60...and I got it for $15! I also got some of their critter flip flops, which were at $7. I'm especially fond of the whale ones, but when these get old there is definitely another pair waiting in the closet.
Gosh I have long toes!

Congrats Tami!!

My sister Tami has been a foster parent for almost two years now, and over a year ago took in a little boy named Ethan. She and her husband Tom fell in love with him and decided that they wanted to adopt. It's been a year of battles and rollercoaster rides, but it is official....Ethan will be a member of the family!

Thanks Mom!

My mom was just in town for a week, visiting and helping me out with the wedding. It was great having her here, and I was super happy that she got to come to the Shower. Thanks Mom, I really appreciate everything and can't wait to see you in October!!

I got a dress!

Mom and I did a little wedding dress shopping and I officially have my wedding dress. It's not like any of the ones that I have posted on here...nor is it like anything I described or thought I would wear but I love it. We'll call is simple elegance. All I am going to share with you on here is it looks nothing like this....

Bridal Shower

The bridal shower was today and it was a blast! A bunch of lovely ladies showed up for some wine, foods, games and laughs. It was the first real wedding event so far and really did make it seem more official! My sister and sister in law threw the party and did an excellent job. My sis found a bakery to make cookies with our wedding logo on it.....sooo cute!!!
Thank you Tami and Kyrsa for the wonderful party!

Excuse me.....

"Misses Toilet Seat Cover Lady," I really need you to do me a favor. I understand that you have some sort of phobia with putting your buns on a bare toilet seat and insist on using the paper toilet seat covers, but can you PLEASE PLEASE flush it down the toilet when you are done doing your business? I myself don't have many issues with putting my buns on a bare toilet seat, but I do have serious issues with putting my hands on something that your ass has touched!! It's gross, it's rude, and makes absolutely no sense. Be thoughtful and take the time to flush your butt protection after it is used.
Thank you.

P.S. I hope your not feeling left out "Misses I Can't Put My Bare Buns On A Toilet Seat And So I Hover And Piss All Over The Seat But Don't Wipe It Up Lady"......you are right up there on the list!!

Memorable Moment!

As some of you know I have a small collection of gnomes in my front yard. While I was doing the Avon Walk there was a lady that was carrying around a gnome with her and taking pictures of the gnome with everything which I thought was super cool. She informed me that THE Travelocity gnome was on the walk. Apparently a lady doing the walk is associated with a higher up and was given the gnome to take on the walk.
Saturday night, Carol and I walked into the dinner tent and there was the Travelocity Gnome! I was super excited to see it and had to take a picture of course. I wish I had a Travelocity Gnome of my own to add to my collection!

Yikes!!

Today I had a super scary experience which no photo can capture. I was waiting, first in line, at a light to turn left. Suddenly a car pulling out of the parking lot I wanted to turn into got hit by a car running the light driving straight. The cars crashed directly in front of me and started coming towards my car and at the last second one slid to the left and one to the right missing my car by inches. Both cars had tons of damage, especially the car that got hit. His tire with some of the axle attached broke off and landed just outside my drivers side door. I just sat there in shock with glass all over the hood and windshield of my car.

Both drivers got taken out on stretchers, but were conscious at the time. Unfortunately I will probably never know what happened to them. I wish them the best, and also thank whoever was responsible for keeping me safe!

Makes me think twice about the times I've accidentally run a red light...sorry Kristin and Becki, I promise to be more careful next time!!

Louie really needs this!

Letterman had a lady on last night showing off all the upcoming toys. Nothing all that great at first...stuff that didn't work and a creepy singing Elvis head (yes you read that right.) Then she got to the bubble makers. There's this bubble maker called "Fetch a Bubble" that dispenses chicken scented/flavored bubbles that dog chase. Apparently dogs are fans of bubbles. I feel this is a MUST for Louie and I really hope that they will start selling them in the US soon...right now it's only in the UK! Bummer!

Thank you for your support!!

Just a quick thanks to everyone that supported me for the walk. I was able to raise $1800 and the overall total raised by everyone for the event was 5.4 million dollars! This money is going to such a good cause and will help those that don't have the best medical insurance to get the care they need and deserve for breast examinations, treatment and research. I feel so proud to have taken this journey and so thankful to all those that supported me.

Thank you: Linda and Bruce Adams, The Bakers, The Balls (Dan, Paula, Matt, Alli, Bob and Joan), The Barnabys, Ken Beik, Stacey Brown, The Camerons, Ellen Chamberlin, Sarah Duffy, Carey Fudurich, Karen and Tom, Mike Inchausti, Eric Ketelsen, Grandma, Amy Pine, Lisette Fowler, Jennifer Rodrigues, Joanne Sales, The Seversons, Nana, The Strouds, The Trottis, The Weavers, Lucy Katavich, Rebecca Parker, Oana York, Kristin Curtis, Adam and Kate, Chris Grijalva, Wendy Grimm, Krista Young, Shea Nelson, Bob Souza and Kim Leytem. I hope I haven't forgotten anyone!!

We finished!!!

The walk is over! Carol and I walked a total of 26.2 miles in two days. The first day seems like a distant memory and so much easier than day two. I struggled hard through day two with some rubbing feet and a really sore knee. Many times I thought I would stop, but I pushed my body to keep going until I reached the finish line. This has been one of the most amazing experiences in my life and I know I will do it again. I've shed some tears, met some friends, had some laughs and realized that my body is capable of way more than I thought. Thanks Carol for standing by my side each step of the way, even during the times when I felt like I needed a piggy back ride!!!

Finish of Day One

We made it the first day!! Carol and I walked 13.1 miles and Kathy and Tamera made it the whole 26.2. I knew that if I took another step I would never make it on Day Two. This has been such an amazing experience so far and I'm really looking forward to walking tomorrow.

Yelp Me!!

There's this cool website that my friend Meghan turned me onto. It's called Yelp. Basically it's a place that you can go and leave or read reviews. I totally dig it! Say you are in a mood for a taco....you can go to the site and search the word taco and it will show you what people have to say about tacos in your location. Can't beat that!! There's nothing worse than searching out that new place and finding out.....it sucks!

Check it out at: http://www.yelp.com/

Unfortunately I think it's only for Sacramento and San Francisco so sorry to those that don't live in the general area. You will just have to continue living on the edge.

Happy Bang Bang!

Happy 4th of July! Hope everyone has a good time grilling, drinking and lighting of explosives. Bill and I gathered all of ours on the front yard this morning and we're ready to go!
Anybody got a light?

Biggest Loser

I've been watching reruns of The Biggest Loser on the Style network. I've never watched it when it has actually been running, but i'm definitely going to when the new season starts on September 11th. These people make amazing transformations! I'd sign up in a second. Here is the winner of the most recent season. He looks NOTHING like he did before!!

I made it!!!

It's officially less than a week till my walk! I'm excited and nervous. I'm very happy to say that I met my fundraising goal!! This is the first time I've ever had to raise money for something, so to reach that daunting $1,800.00 minimum feels like quite an accomplishment. Thanks to all of those that donated. Stay tuned after next weekend for a post on how the walk went. Wish me luck!!
