Sho Fly!

Dear Bath and Body Works Lotion Slinger,

Let me start by saying I have been where you are. I wore the gingham apron for years, I told people the benefits of shower gel and a loofah puff. I washed hands, I lotioned phalanges. Here is one thing I didn't do. I didn't follow people around like a serial killer armed with product. I didn't point out every item on every shelf in hopes that maybe there was something you weren't seeing with your own eyes. I didn't say "That's all your getting?," when someone finally came up to the register. I know you are in the store alone. I know you are bored. I know the Christmas music is already getting to you and it's not even December. On the other hand if you keep pestering me I'm going to show how a loofah puff can make an excellent gag as I tie you up with raffia.

Thank you,
Crazy Pregnant Lady

Let me see you one two step!

I have fantastic news. Bob is doing excellent! He had a trecheostomy and things turned around quickly. He is now breathing on his own without the assistance of the vent!! We went to visit him yesterday to wish him a Happy Thanksgiving and when we got there physical therapy was working with him so we waited in the hall. All of a sudden, over the curtain, popped up Bob's beautiful face. It was enough to take my breath away and open the flood gates. After 3 weeks in the bed, this was such a huge feat! He then took a couple steps with a walker and sat in a chair upright for an hour or so. Such an amazing thing to happen on Thanksgiving and an amazing thing to be thankful for! Keep up all the good thoughts for Bob, he's coming along!

17 Weeks!

I'm cheating, I know. I'll admit that it's Friday right now as I write this. I was supposed to have a giveaway yesterday....didn't happen. Thought I would do it today....not going to happen! I do have something for you, but I've been lazy and unmotivated and haven't taken a picture of said item so I guess you'll have to wait. I'm pregnant and I get to make the rules around here. Ha!

I'm 17 weeks today, or yesterday if you pretend that I wrote this on Thursday. The baby is the size of a turnip. I had a wonderful Thanksgiving and was sooo thankful. Probably the most thankful I've been in a Thanksgiving in a while. More on that today.

How far along? 17 weeks.

Total weight gain/loss: I have an appointment on Tuesday, next weeks will have a number. I am CERTAIN I have put on weight by the looks of my stomach.

Stretch marks? Nope.

Sleep: Very interrupted by three peeing sessions a night.

Best moment this week: Being with the family.

Movement: Yes, not every day. Wanna know what it honestly feels like? Feels like I set my cell phone on vibrate and put it inside. You know what I mean.

Food cravings: Orange soda, mandarins, oranges, etc.

Gender: Could be male or female.

Labor Signs: Nope.

Belly Button in or out? It's still a black hole.

What I miss: Sleeping through the night.

Milestones: Having an official bump.

I'm a sucker!

I'm a sucker for things that will expose my cute dog. Like this blog here! We've seen our fare share of Whisky photos grace the blog. So, why not one more! Hallmark is having a contest for cute doggies and if you win you get stuff. I don't even know what you get, but does it matter...Whisky is too damn cute to care about the prizes. If you also think he's a cutie..go and vote!

Oh, and come back to the blog tomorrow....there will be a blog contest! Just a little thank you to all my lovely readers!

Really?

I'm a child of the 80's. I saw all the movies and had countless crushes on the many cute boys in the films. One particular film...Stand By Me. Looking back if I had only known that I was picking this...
over this....
I would have SERIOUSLY thought twice about the decision!

Craving

Well, I have had my first craving. Now, I can't say that I woke up thinking I wanted this...but I happened to stumble across one on Friday and when I had it I thought it was the best thing I had ever put in my mouth. Now I want it all the time. I day dream and think about it constantly. Want to know what it is? Seriously....orange soda? I don't think I've had orange soda since high school. A friend and I used to frequent McDonald's and there was always an orange soda involved. I actually haven't been drinking soda since I gave up the diet soda. I've had the occasional 7-Up to try and make my stomach feel better but when it didn't work I stopped trying. When I had the orange soda on Friday there were seriously a ZILLION options of things I could drink and for some reason the Fanta was calling my name. Now I want it all the time. Doesn't have to be Fanta either...but orange juice doesn't count. It seriously tastes so good it's as if the gods created it just for me. That is so weird.

The annual turkey party!

Last night was the annual turkey party! I have been so thankful to be eating good the last week because I really wanted to enjoy the yummy food. I took it easy on myself this year and had guests bring lots of stuff so I only had to do the stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy. Bill smoked the turkey too of course.

Between the food, the friends, the drinks and the kids...I have to say that the highlight of my night was this...

Audrey! She is my friend Jaymi and Tom's daughter and she seriously is the cutest kid on the planet. Between the red curly hair and the perfectly adorable friendly personality it is hard not to watch and fall in love with her. I think she left many at the party wishing for a child just like her...I think even some of the men had aches in their uterus. To top it off, Whisky was IN LOVE WITH HER. He could be found following her around and licking her face as much as possible. I think I want 5 children now.

Action Packed!

I decided to take the day off work today and take my niece and nephew for a day of fun in Sacramento...or Roseville...well and actually a little Lincoln too! They slept over on Thursday and filled themselves to the gills with Wii. Our first stop on Friday was Strikes bowling alley in Lincoln. The kids bowled two games, each winning one. It was a pretty fun site and luckily no one was injured in the tossing of the balls! The next stop...John's Incredible Pizza. If you haven't been or heard of it, think Chuck E Cheese on uppers and without the creepy characters. Hayden was so excited when we got in he said, "I'm so excited about this I have to pee." You know that is real excitement there! They each got cards with 90 points and played games and rode rides to their hearts content..or till the 90 credits ran out! Then they traded their tickets in for prizes. Hayden went with a Whoopie Cushion (big surprise there) and a parachuting alien. Andrea, a princess address book and swirly straw. The fun didn't stop there though because I was really shooting for the best aunt on the planet award. On the way back home we stopped at a large thrift store called Deseret. Each of the kids got $10 to pick out ANYTHING they wanted. Much to my surprise, they both ended up with clothes! Andrea knew immediately that she wanted some high heels and picked out the reddest pair in the bunch...and then looked for a dress and necklace to match. Hayden went with some soccer shoes, a Transformer and a crazy Spiderman shirt. I have to say, this was the funnest day that I've had in a long time. No matter how sick I have been I was definitely reminded how much I look forward to children in my life. Thanks Hayden and Andrea for the fun day...I hope I won the super Aunt award!

16 Weeks!

And feeling pretty darn good! I'm getting some energy back and now feel like I just hit walls of tired versus tired all day long. My hips are killing me and I do feel like I would love a massage. I got the Old Navy clothes and let me tell you, some of the sizing is ridiculous. I had to return three things because either they fell off of me or I would have looked just as sexy with a garbage bag over my body. It may come to a point that I'm ready for that, but not now. The baby is now the size of an avocado, and is going to double in weight in the next couple weeks!

How far along? 16 weeks.
Total weight gain/loss: Honestly, I'm not sure. Last I looked I had gained back 5 of the 17 I had lost.
Stretch marks? Nope.
Sleep: My hips hurt. Hard to sleep on the stomach now so I just switch from side to side. I think I need a Snoogle soon!
Best moment this week: Going through a list of potential names. We won't keep it a secret so once we pick something I'll let you know.
Movement:
Seriously think I felt some fluttering a night ago, and it wasn't gas. Funny vibration almost. Laid super still and quiet and it lasted less than 20 seconds.
Food cravings: Avocados ironically. I eat them with salt and pepper or as guacamole.
Gender: I still think it's a boy.
Labor Signs: Nope.
Belly Button in or out? It's still a black hole.
What I miss: Clear skin.
What I am looking forward to: My mom arriving in a couple days.
Weekly Wisdom: It will get better.
Milestones: I finally came to terms with the air freshener in the bathroom and we both made it out alive.

Words of Wisdom

If you are driving down the road and a dead skunk is in your path, don't assume that your car will just drive right over it. Should said skunk touch any part of your vehicle the smell will follow you throughout the drive, made worse by having the heat on because it is freezing outside.

Thank you, the more you know.

Just chillin!

Our dog has got to have the goofiest posture EVER. He doesn't sit normal when he's on the floor and oh boy, when he is on the couch it is something else. He seriously lounges there like a human. I sometimes expect him to just throw his arm on the arm rest and ask for a beer. Oh, and don't think he actually hasn't used the arm rest with before. He's ridiculous!

Take a deep breath for Bob!

Well, the road has been very slow! Bob did great through the surgery, but his recovery has been very slow going. His body had retained so much fluid that his kidneys couldn't do the work to remove it, which unfortunately left him on the ventilator. This weekend they decided to start dialysis in order to try and give his body a jump start and get rid of some of the liquid. The ultimate goal being getting him to breath on his own! While still slow moving, the ventilator has been turned down meaning we are heading in the right direction! Today I want everyone to think flushing and deep breathing thoughts and let's see if we can give Bob a little assistance.

15 Weeks

Wow, I'm really rocking into the second trimester now! The baby is now the size of an apple. I definitely feel better and what symptoms I do have are manageable. Not ready to take a baby bump picture yet, but hopefully in the next couple weeks I'll get one on here. I finally purchased maternity clothes thanks to patience and a killer sale at Old Navy. I seriously think I got most of what I needed (pants, winter coat, 5 tops, hooded sweatshirt and two dresses) for $140! I'm noticing that my jeans are feeling different. If I sit they are tight on the tummy and one pair I have started using the old loop the rubber band around the button trick.

Next will be tackling the room. I'm not going to go crazy nursery in there. The room will be painted cream and I plan on adding color other ways. I found a quilt that I really want to knit and I plan on getting started over Christmas. I started looking into daycare options and HOLY SNIKES! Anyone out there want to take care of a kid? You're moving back right Mom?

Anyway, without further ado...here is my update!

How far along? 15 Weeks and 1 Day.
Total weight gain/loss: Stayed the same weight as last week, glad I'm not losing anymore.
Stretch marks? Nope.
Sleep: Now that the dog is sleeping on a dog bed instead of curled up at my head I am sleeping MUCH better!
Best moment this week: Eating cheese tortellini, a small dinner salad and a roll. Seriously, now that I can eat my best moments are food.
Movement: Some pinching cramps, Dr. thinks it may be the baby bumping my bladder but getting that checked out today.
Food cravings: Pretty much if you can put it in your mouth it sounds pretty good to me. I really want spicy stuff but know that I need to hold off.
Gender: Not going to find out, but last night dreamt that I found a piece of paper from the doctor saying it was a boy AND everyone keeps saying "He" when they talk about the baby. Oh I hope it's a boy.
Labor Signs: Nope.
Belly Button in or out? It's still a black hole.
What I miss: Not having to worry about what I take medicine wise.
What I am looking forward to: My new maternity clothes arriving.
Weekly Wisdom: Be careful when brushing your tongue.
Milestones: I ate a complete dinner!

What a lamp!

I saw this on the Hallmark display at CVS yesterday. All I can say is there is NO WAY that this will not end up on our Christmas tree. I LOVE IT!

Hey Hey Hey

Knitting can be both highly rewarding and highly sucky. It's a very fun craft, but boy when you put serious time into something and it comes out wrong it can make you want to stab someone with knitting needles. I've made it a goal to have a DIY Christmas this year. I did the same thing last year and made about 1/3 of my gifts and bought most of the others handmade. This year over 50% of my gifts are going to be made by myself and what I can't make I will buy handmade!

I have a nephew that loves skulls, and I don't think he reads the blog (Jason if you are reading this...go away now.) I really wanted to try something new and knit him a hat with skulls on it. I found a pattern and in one day knocked out this...

It came out wonderful! I was so excited and so proud of myself for doing something new and learning that it wasn't really hard. Then I started looking at the hat and realized that there was NO WAY this was going to fit Jason. In fact, I think I just knit my kids first hat because it is definitely baby size.

Not wanting to waste any time I found another skull hat pattern and got to work. This one was taking FOREVER and the whole time I was making it I knew that it wasn't right. I knew that it was much too big. Last night, realizing that I still had about 5 inches left to knit I decided to quit fooling myself and quit wasting time.Seriously, horrible pattern. The skull looks cool, but last time I checked people don't want to wear hats to their lips. Well, unless you are a character in Fat Albert.

I guess it's back to the drawing board.

Monster!

I've created a monster! An 85 pound snuggle monster. An 85 pound snuggle monster that completely understands what I pillow is for. An 85 pound snuggle monster that completely understands what a pillow is for and at night takes up 3/4 of the bed trying to get at close to the pillows and us as possible. It's all my fault. I coddled, and cuddled and snuggled him right into the dog he is now. Unfortunately with a big belly coming, snuggle monster had to be stopped.

Yesterday I went to Sam's Club and got a GIGANTIC dog bed for my 85 pounds snuggle monster. I started by putting it in the living room. While first tentative, eventually he realized just how cozy it was and spent most of the day on it. Then came the daunting task of moving it into the room. I put it next to my side of the bed because snuggle monsters want their mommy close by. I figured that through the night there would be about 5 episodes of "Get Down" on the horizon. Guess what? Snuggle monster stayed in HIS bed until 5am!!!

Night one a success, wish us luck with the many more nights to come!

Bob Update

Thanks to all of you that sent your well wishes on Facebook and the blog. I'm happy to say that Bob came through the surgery great. The valve had to be replaced but the surgeon was happy with how the surgery went. Right now he is in ICU and probably will be for a couple days at least. We will be seeing him later today and I'll be taking all your love and support with me when I go.

On a side note, having a blog means that you get solicitations. I have always tried to make leaving comments easy and therefore have been stuck with the occasional spam comment selling me this or that. Yesterday I got one of those and just about lost my shit. The fact that someone pays no attention to what the blog posting is about and just tries to sell some Viagra is unbelievable to me. I did a rather vulgar "tweet" about it and I apologize for my foul mouth. I've learned a side effect of the pregnancy is a potty mouth and the ability to want to kill someone with my bare hands. So, that said, I have had to add one of those ridiculous "what is this word" things to verify the real people from the fake. I hope it doesn't keep your comments away!

Thanks again for all of your caring words!

Take care Bob!

These are my in-laws. I know that for many the in-laws are a thorn in their side. Luckily for me they are more family to love. I love my in-laws. I actually love my entire extended family that my hubby gave me, but that could be a whole other post in its self. Put simply, when you have Ball blood running through your veins you are good people.

Today my father in law is under going an open heart surgery. Before I came into the picture, over 11 years ago, my father in law had a heart replacement. As of late he is having some troubles with a valve and it needs to be repaired/replaced. I'm not a very religious girl, but I will be praying all day today to whoever is listening to take care of Bob during his surgery. I was just hoping maybe all of you could do the same.

14 Weeks!!

Today I am officially 14 weeks and entering the second trimester, the baby is the size of a lemon. Wooohooo! If you can believe it, and I can convince myself that I won't be jinxed, I'm feeling better. Yesterday the feel good started and today it is continuing. I still get a bit of acid reflux, sour taste in my mouth but have found that gum is the answer. I love gum. Actually, I'm not much of a gum chewer so it's hard to get used to..I think I look like a cow.

I was going to start posting a belly pic, but when trying to take one last night I realized that it's going to be a while before that happens. I'm a big girl already so honestly what might look like showing it more than likely just the bump that has ALWAYS been there. Thus is the curse of the big girl! What I can tell you is that when I sit, the fold that used to kind of be there is no longer there...it's just one pouch. Also when I lay on my stomach it feels weird. I still do it, but it feels like I'm laying on a wad of blankets.

That said, there is a mommy blog that I liked to read called The818. She posted great pics and had a fantastic chart she would fill out and I decided I'm going to include that with my weekly update posts. So, here we go..

How far along? 14 Weeks.
Total weight gain/loss: I've lost about 17lbs at this point.
Stretch marks? I've always had one on my lower stomach, it's kind of pink now...bring on the vitamin E oil.
Sleep: With the craziest dreams EVER.
Best moment this week: Eating a hamburger and not throwing it up.
Movement: Does gas count?
Food cravings: Still afraid to go too crazy, always want Mexican food but that's no change.
Gender: You'll know when it comes out.
Labor Signs: Way to early for that.
Belly Button in or out? Seriously my belly button is like a cave, you could go spelunking in there. If it ever pops out I will be SERIOUSLY surprised.
What I miss: Having dessert, can't eat anything sweet.
What I am looking forward to: Feeling the baby move.
Weekly Wisdom: Keep the "What to Expect When Expecting" reading to a minimum...that shit leaves you expecting the worst.
Milestones: I made it to the second trimester and heard the babies heartbeat!

Feeling Wild!

There has been so much online lately about the movie "Where the Wild Things Are." Visually I thought the movie looked like it would be stunning but I can't say that I remember much about this book from my childhood so I wasn't drawn to it. Put out a movie based on a Shel Silverstein book and I will be there at midnight when it opens. I loved that man and still have all the books from my childhood.
I've said before that when I got to my in laws I commonly leave with items that my mother in law is clearing out. Typically this means very cool stuff! Our visit last weekend was no different. The hubby's mom asked if I would like an old book, "Where the Wild Things Are." Such a cool book for the baby, especially since the inside has a bookplate that has my husband and twin sister's name on it. So fantastic!

The Best!

Yesterday I was feeling super super sick and decided that the most I could do was work from home. On the other hand, I did have a meeting at 9:30am at a client that I knew I couldn't miss. When the meeting was over I remembered that I was very close to a Chipotle. The Chipotle bowl is one of the things I can eat without making me sick and it always fills me up. Plus, it allows me to sneak a little chicken in there!

Here's the tricky part, it was only 10:30am. I wasn't even sure if Chipotle would be open since they are definitely not a breakfast spot. I decided it would be worth the drive to check it out. I walked up to the front door and was saddened that it was locked and the sign said 11:00am. I knew I wouldn't be able to wait around for a half hour so I headed back to my car. On the way there a lady inside opened the door and caught my attention, telling me that she would serve me if I wanted to come in! Seriously, I think she was an angel. This woman had and still has absolutely NO idea how much she made my day.

I will forever love Chipotle. That is some excellent service!
