Touch Me

This weekend I have spent a decent amount of time playing with my iPod touch. It's really like having a little laptop. I wish it connected to the internet through something other than Wifi..but I guess that is why you buy an iPhone.

My main mission was to find some applications that I would use. The first was Pandora, which I love. I also heard that there are some good pregnancy applications so I searched out and found one I like called Baby Bump. It lets me track my weekly status, lets me track kicks when I have to start doing that and also has a contraction calculator when the time comes. How very modern. Finally I was onto games. I found two that were 99 cents and had great reviews. The first was The Moron Test. Hilarious fun game that can make your brain crazy! So worth the 99 cents. I also purchased Shopping Cart Hero. Soo simple and so fun. Fly a shopping cart and try not to break your head open.

What applications do you recommend?

On board!

In blog land I have seen much talk of Greek Yogurt. I never gave much thought to it really. I like yogurt, but prefer it in the frozen soft serve variety. Morning yogurt is super hit or miss for me. Sometimes I love it and sometimes I can't stand it. Typically when I do it I gravitate towards vanilla with some fresh fruit.

Then I tried Greek Yogurt. Oh man this stuff is made in heaven. It is creamy, delicious, decadent and just all around wonderful. I've only tried the Greek Gods variety and lean towards the Honey flavor. My favorite pairing is with a mango but I'd pretty much eat it with anything. Why did I not try this stuff sooner?

Be My Valentine?

Those of you that are regulars know that I love myself some Mad Libs. While I was in Washington my niece was introduced and found them quite hilarious as well, for her I think the key to funny equaled putting "Boob" in wherever it said body part!

My love for them started with my good friend Sprout, aka Mr. Cokely, aka Kim. We would do these things all the time and just roar with laughter. So it's no surprise that for my bday she got me this...

Mad Lib Valentines! You can fill them out and then fold them up and mail them. Even stickers are included! So, I thought I would share them with you. Well, those of you that want one. If you would like to receive a Mad Lib Valentine Love Letter from me then leave a comment with a way to get in touch with you so I can get your mailing address. You can leave the comment on the blog or on Facebook, whichever is easier for you! Then I will pop one in the mail so you will be certain to get a Valentine this year! I'll be sure to make them extra juicy too!

26 Weeks

It is sooo scary how close together it seems these posts are. Time is really going fast and I'm hoping it slows down just a little bit because there is still so much to do. Right now the baby is the length of an English hothouse cucumber. I like that kind...you don't have to peel them! Anyway, things are really chugging along. There is still so much to do...the room is still in shambles. Lots of stuff to move out and move in. It'll happen though!

How far along: 26 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: 8lbs total as of my last visit, I'll update the number in two weeks after my next appointment.

Stretch marks: I love my mango belly butter. I have no idea if it is what is working to keep the stretch marks at bay, but my stomach smells good enough to eat.

Sleep: What's that? I'm slowly starting to forget what it felt like to not wake up every time I have to roll over. I'm forgetting what it felt like to sleep on my stomach or back if I want to. Oh heavens have the dreams kicked in big time. They are either crazy disturbing or ummm, crazy nice. We'll just leave it at that.

Movement: As Flo-Rida says "Shorty got low, low, low, low, low, low." This baby is low in the belly and most of the time the kicks are still between my legs. I love it when it feel it by my belly button. So much more comfortable and fun!

Food cravings: Nothing in particular this past week. Just have to eat. Almost fainted during my glucose test because I hadn't eaten yet that morning. Had my blood drawn while slumped over in the chair!

Frustrations: BACK! When it flares up it is not pretty.

What I miss: Sleeping through the night. I'm starting to realize that it will probably be a loooooong time before that happens again so I better get used to it.

Weekly Wisdom: Watch out when you sneeze!

Milestones: The registries are all done. A few things might be added here and there but for the most part finished! I'm registered at Amazon.com and Babies R Us. If you want to check them out you can search using my name...which is Stacey Ball for those that forgot where they were already! Oh, and another milestone is that my little baby counter over the right is in the two digit numbers. When the heck did that happen???

Seriously.

If you find yourself having a dream about Bradley Cooper, teaching you how to play the guitar and it suddenly starts raining and he rips off his shirt because of course he needs to use it to protect his guitar it is probably best that you stay asleep. If you do wake up, you will not fall back asleep and continue the dream. Trust me.

Meet Joan

Tonight something amazing happened...something I have been waiting for and should have done a loooonnnng time ago. Tonight, I got a massage by Joan! If you know who I am talking about you are probably thinking, "Oh a Joan massage, I better schedule one of those soon." For those that don't know who she is, or possibly live too far away to be able to know who she is...I am so sorry.

I have known Joan for "GULP" 22 years. I moved into a new neighborhood when I was 12 and decided that I wanted to be a babysitter. I passed out fliers and Joan responded so I started watching her kids Cory and Amanda. It is kids like these that make me feel OLD. I used to carry Cory into his room and now he could probably carry and body slam me...it's a scary thought.

When I first met Joan she wasn't doing massage. In fact, to be honest, I don't know what she did for work. To me, she was a painter and had photos like this around the house. (Click to visit link) Do you know who that is? It was always one of my favorite paintings. It was a magazine ad with Cindy Crawford and I always thought she captured it perfectly. If it wouldn't have been weird as a 12 year old girl to have a painting of a naked women hanging in my room I probably would have tried to get my mom to buy it for me!

Years have passed, obviously, and for many of those years Joan has done massage. She is still a painter and a yoga instructor and just overall one of the most positive energy people you will ever meet. Back to the massage. I seriously have NEVER gotten a massage that came close to a Joan massage. I've had massages in far away "massage friendly" towns and spent hundreds of dollars only to walk out and think...man that could have been two Joan massages. I've tried the Massage Envy and wasn't envious at all. When Joan gives you a massage you can feel it. I swear if she felt like it would help to massage you with her legs and feet she would. She uses her hands and her arms and the weight of her body and while a small women you would think you were being massaged by Shaquille O'Neal. Also, her hands get SOOOOO warm. Seriously, you have a massage by Joan and you will be a changed person.

She just started doing massage in a new studio in Carmichael at the Saha Yoga and Wellness Center. If you live anywhere near Sacramento, like within an hour or maybe even two drive I highly suggest that you give Joan a call and set up an appointment. Screw Sonoma and their high priced studios! It is a blessing to be massaged by Joan, and even more of a blessing to know her!

Youch!

A terrible pregnancy side effect has begun and I am willing with all my power that it doesn't happen alot and it doesn't get worse. Back pain. Oh heavens, this weekend I spent most of the time feeling like a crippled old women. It started on Friday with a little pinching tightness on the left, which was thankfully gone on Saturday morning! I shouldn't have started celebrating though cause that day while grocery shopping my back started getting so tight that I thought I might be having contractions. I got home, did some yoga, took a nap and woke up feeling great. Shortly after I turned and YOUCH my right leg got so tight from the hip down. I couldn't sit comfortably, walk comfortably and it was only tolerable when I was standing...mostly still. It was so bad I deserted my dinner party and fell asleep before my guests even left. That does not win any Martha Stewart awards!

Sunday it was gone, and so far hasn't come back with full force. I'm beginning to wonder if I should have hung onto the walker that I had when my knee was bad?!

Digger

If you watch NASCAR you will know of this little cartoon character named Digger. He has his own song, he has his own skits and his own racetrack camera. To put simply....HE IS RIDICULOUS! We spend a good amount of time mocking digger and most of the time I cringe when they put him on during the races.

With racing season just around the corner I thought it only appropriate to update the chalkboard NASCAR style!
Oh heavens, it's going to be a long racing season.

Belated Birthday Gift

Today I got my gift from the hubby for my birthday. It's not his fault that it's late...it's because many stores were sold out after the holidays. Plus, I was being indecisive on wanting one. So far I love it! Now don't get excited, it's not an iPhone...I'm not cool enough for one of those. Nope, this is an iPod touch. My original iPod has seen better days after spending a summer at the pool. While it still works, and will be great at the pool...this new guy is going no where near water!

25 Weeks

In just three weeks I'll be in the third trimester...the home stretch! Incredible! The baby is the size (weight) of a rutabaga. I've added weight in there because sometimes the fruit/vegetable is reference of length and sometimes it's girth so I thought I'd make it a bit more specific.

How far along: 25 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: I gained 4lbs in the last 4 weeks. That's a total of 8lbs...not bad for the 25 week mark!

Stretch marks: Still the same here. I've heard this is a hereditary thing and thankfully my mom got none..even with twins!

Sleep: I like to call it napping with pee breaks in between.

Movement: I still don't feel like the movement is trackable. While it happens daily it is very random as to when it is going to happen. Sometimes it's low, sometimes higher...although still low most of the time. Still don't have too many movements that you can feel through my tummy.

Food cravings: Lemonade...especially from that Hot Dogs on a Stick place. I also could smell donuts yesterday and went and got one today and it was perfect, so I think perhaps I was craving a donut.

Frustrations: Achy hips.

What I miss: Moving easily. Things are slower, especially when it involves getting up or getting down!

Weekly Wisdom: If you think walking into a baby store to register is going to be easy, you are insane. Can you say overwhelming?!

Milestones: Someone said, "Oh..how far along are you?" It was so nice to hear that from someone that wasn't told I was pregnant.

It's been 5 weeks so I thought I'd give you another belly shot because there is just nothing that I like more. I actually don't think there is that much difference between week 20 and 25. The baby has dropped and the belly doesn't just stick straight out, it more hangs. I think it's actually slimming the rest of my body though...like all the weight is focusing in the belly. I'm totally fine with that. I think we'll see a bigger difference around week 30. I'm also going to have some professional pictures taken and I can't wait for those. I'm going to do those pretty late, around 36 weeks...and no I will not be making a heart with my hands and putting it on my belly. I want them to be both a celebration of the tummy and a celebration of me...something to make me feel sexy. Stay tuned!

Good Stuff!

It all started with that watch. Sometimes one great score can lead to another and another! I got a couple late Christmas gifts this past weekend, one a gift card for Old Navy and the other this great snap scarf by Free People which I can't stop wearing. Basically it has snaps all the way down both sides which lets you wrap it all sorts of ways. On Monday I had the day off so Wendy and I went to Babies R Us to do my registry...boy was that overwhelming! Afterwards we went to Old Navy to see what was on their clearance racks. They were offering an additional 50% off the clearance prices. Oh heavens, was that one of the best Old Navy trips ever! I seriously got a shirt for $1.25...but my favorite find was this coat. It was $20!!!! It's not maternity but because it only has the three buttons it totally works cause my belly just pops out the opening..which I think is kind of cute. Then for my birthday I got a $50 Macy's giftcard. I was going to use it on perfume, but damn if I don't smell good enough already! Instead I found these great suede boots on clearance for 50% off. All this great stuff is really keeping me inspired to dress cute while pregnant...and I plan to do just that!

Bossy's (No) Book Tour!!

One of my favorite blogs that I read daily is I Am Bossy. Bossy is Georgia Getz, a hilarious snarky women married to John Cusack amongst many others. I found her blog last year when she went on a world tour and happened upon the house of The Pioneer Woman. Bossy is back at it this year and planning her (No) Book Tour in March and I quickly signed up to get on her route. I'll be all huge and pregnant and unable to drink so of course I will be able to show her an EXCELLENT time! If you are in interested in meeting Bossy CLICK HERE!

Doodles

A birthday package came from my mom yesterday and inside she had a photocopy of a page of doodles that I did in 1997. I've always LOVED to draw. There is only one problem...I'm not a creative drawer. I don't feel like I can sit down and think up fun and quirky things to draw. It happens sometimes, but not often. On the other hand, give me a picture of something (especially if it is cartoon-ish) and I can duplicate it perfectly. So, I have to admit that looking at these pictures I'm sure much of my inspiration came from a friend named N'Gina who could draw like a mad women. Remember those pictures in magazines of the turtle and you could draw it and mail it in? Oh man, I can't tell you how many of those I did!

One of my favs....

Until this weekend I still had some Christmas gifts to exchange so I haven't been able to show you many of the gifts that I made. Now that more of them are swapped I can show you a couple of my favorites. These yarn wreaths were all over the blogosphere before the holidays and I just had to try one. Once I did one...I had to make another! They were my favorite gifts that I gave this year and I had a really hard time not keeping one for myself!

Gift to myself!

Tomorrow I will turn the big 34. I'm actually not one of those that frets over birthdays and instead try to celebrate that another good year is behind me with many more to come. This may change as I get older, but I sure hope not.

Today while I was out running errands I spotted an item that I had to get for myself for my bday. Last year I got myself a watch for Christmas with a giftcard I got and I have been in love with it. It was a self winding watch and I wore it all the time. Not long ago I dropped it and chipped the glass on the face. So, today, when I saw this beauty I knew it was meant to be...

It's another self winder, only this time with bling! Wanna know what's even blingier about it? It is $150.00 watch. Wanna know what's even better? It was on sale for $24! Wanna know what's even betterer than that? It was an additional 25% off!
Can you say Happy Birthday to me?!

We've got the beat...

I got a two month rental for a baby doppler recently from a site called HearTones. Basically it is a heart beat monitor so you can listen in on your little one. I won't use it much, but it was definitely fun to play around with and I thought I would share with you. I used my camera to record it so you can hear little baby Ball. I just shot the video of the wall...so no that is not my white belly you are seeing. Eek, that would be terrible! Enjoy!

24 Weeks!

Wow, that makes it feel like 6 months...although based on reality there aren't always 4 weeks in a month, sometimes there is a little more. I'm pretty darn close to 6 months though...creepy! The baby is now the length of an ear of corn. I'm definitely seeing changes in my stomach and will post another tummy photo soon.

How far along: 24 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: We'll find out next week!

Stretch marks: Same ones as before, really don't think I'll get many more.

Sleep: Sucks. Hips hurt like crazy at night which has me flipping like a pancake. Waking up to pee has now increased to 2-3 times a night.

Movement: Yep. Movement pattern changes daily. Sometimes baby is really active in the morning, sometimes the afternoon and sometimes at night. Still feeling it mostly very low, like it's kicking it's way out! Love it when the movements are up by the belly button...those are much more comfortable and you can feel them through the skin. When they are low it would probably awkward for anyone to put there hand "there" to feel the baby.

Food cravings: OK, I definitely want chocolate. I've never been a chocolate lover. Give me gummy bears and Swedish fish. Now I daydream about brownies and fudge and chocolate chip cookies...you get the picture. I just had a bowl of Chocolate Cheerios and they were definitely made by angels.

Frustrations: Face rash. Itches the worst around my left eye in the corner. Also feeling it down the jaw line and the ear. Looked it up and there is such a thing as a pregnancy rash. Figures I would get this!

What I miss: Sleeping.

Weekly Wisdom: Belly band support makes things so much more comfortable.

Milestones: Creating a plan of attack for the babies room/guest room.

With all that said I felt like I just wanted to clear something up. Last weekly update post I talked about "worrying" and I think I got some of those near and dear to me worrying that I was too worried.

In general I am not a worrier. I don't stress about stuff, I don't get worked up about stuff, I tend to just let things roll of my back and roll with the punches. I feel like I'm someone people come to when they are worried and I give them the "It will be fine, it all works out" pep talk. So, when I say that I am worrying this does not mean that I am losing sleep (well not because I'm worried), chewing my nails off, pulling out hair or crying all the time and thinking everything is going to go wrong. Worry for me is just the simple thought of "Huh, I wonder why the baby hasn't moved today." This doesn't mean that I am calling the doctor or thinking about that all day long. It drives me crazy though because this has been the only time in my life that I've worried about something so much. That said, I know the baby is going to be fine. If there is something wrong with the baby I know that I'll be able to handle it and figure it out. I also know that I will be a great mom. It's in my nature and it's what I've always wanted to do. I may have funny dreams about it, I may have weird thoughts that pop into my brain but I can assure you...I'm not pacing the floors of my house mumbling to myself. It's all good!

Boppys and blankets and bottles...oh my!

I have discovered that something that is both fun and stressful when getting ready for the first baby is registering. Unlike registering for a wedding, you are entering a world of items that you didn't even know existed. A world of items that has you wondering...do I need all of this? Then comes the other difficult decision...where to register. I figured I was pretty limited to Target or Babies R Us. Then I discovered a whole new world of registering...a world called Amazon! There is something so convenient about picking out items from the privacy of my home and items that come from all sorts of shops that seems to make it a little bit easier. I know not everyone buys of the web though so I will also be registering at Babies R Us. I'm a bit afraid to walk into that store but I have a friend going with me for protection. Man, there is alot of stuff you need when having a baby! You can check out my registry so far, here!

Caw! Caw!

On Sunday morning when we woke up we could hear the birds outside going crazy. When we looked through the window we could see that there was a large amount of crows in a tree clamoring about and going crazy. I took Whisky outside and it turned out there were HUNDREDS of crows in the tree. When they saw us they just peered down and screamed at us. Whisky literally got scared and ran inside the house. We had this happen once before with Magpies at our old house. A cat had killed one of the birds and the rest were on a war path to teach that cat a lesson. We figured it was probably the same situation. Then, this morning when we left for work they were in a new tree doing the same thing. Now I'm starting to worry that the movie The Birds is coming true on my street!

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to my hubby and his beautiful twin sister Katie! I hope you both have an excellent bday and have a beer for each other!

And more baby stuff....

After this I'll take a break from showing you baby items, I promise! The other area of decision making is the room. The room right now is still just the spare bedroom with an empty fish tank full of baby items and a crib in the garage that is not put together. We have alot of stuff to take out of the room before any assembly begins! I've picked a general theme for the room which is ABC's and 123's. This is centered around some vintage flash cards that I found at a thrift store as well as the fabric that my mom is using to make the crib skirt. I'll have a couple shelves of vintage Fisher Price toys which you have previously seen, some framed flash cards...but I knew I wanted one more piece of art. I really wanted an alphabet print and have found a couple that I liked. My mom told me she saw one at Z Gallerie and I had a gift card for the mall so I went to check it out. Well, that was all it took and it will now be part of the room. It's a biggie! I really was avoiding animals in the room but they fit perfectly on this print so I don't mind at all!

Baby Stuff

When I was in Washington I found ALL SORTS of cute baby stuff. I've been limiting myself though to how much I buy, especially when it comes to clothes. Not knowing the sex of the baby really comes in helpful for this. There were two items that I couldn't pass up. One of them was a selection by the hubby and the other was all me. I'll let you figure out which is which!

23 Weeks

Is it a weird coincidence that sometimes when the babies size is compared to a particular fruit....it is the fruit that I can't get enough of at the time? Right now the baby is the size of a large mango, but roughly 11" long.

How far along: 23 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: I'll tell you during week 25 update.

Stretch marks: Yes, but really they don't bother me. They aren't dark and the slightly pinkish one is below the belly so it's not like I can see it anyway...and I won't be wearing my bikini anytime soon.

Sleep: Still a tough one. Waking up to pee more, waking up to roll over, surrounded by pillows. I know this is only going to get worse.

Movement: Yes and no. Bill finally felt it which was nice, but I feel like it doesn't move enough. This is probably my biggest worry. I wake up worried about the baby until I feel it, then I feel like it's not in the right place and not moving enough.

Food cravings: I just like food still, no weird cravings. I tried Greek yogurt for the first time and feel like I died and went to heaven. I eat it daily with...a mango!

Frustrations: The worry. I worried from week 4 to week 14, then I just felt better..that everything was going to be ok. Then at the 20 week ultrasound the worry kicked in again. I seriously worry that there is something wrong all the time and it definitely is centered around the movement. At the same time I know there are women who aren't even feeling their baby yet. Then I worried this morning because I was going to share a belly picture and I think it looks the same as it did last time I showed it..which I feel like can't be normal. Crazy. Having a baby is a stressful thing. I'm going to have more gray hair under my colored hair once I'm done with this!

What I miss: Not worrying.

Weekly Wisdom: Don't stuff yourself, it's VERY uncomfortable.

Milestones: Starting prenatal yoga! It was great to be surrounded by other pregnant women and also nice to get some good stretching. I'll be doing this once a week.

I'm supposed to feed it?!

Since I've been pregnant I have crazy dreams. I've always been a dreamer and someone that remembers my dreams but the crazy dreams were pretty random until the baby started growing. Now at times I have dreams that I think I would be committed for if I shared them. There seriously could be an entire blog just of crazy dreams. The one thing that hasn't been in the dreams much is the baby ironically. Until now. Now it seems that each night the baby is the main topic of the dreams.

The first baby dream was just the other night and it is just too hilarious not to share. See, before falling asleep I was reading a pregnancy book. I haven't been a big advocate of these books because most seem to want to scare you and seriously, I'm scared enough as it is. I found one that I like that is rather funny though so I've been reading it occasionally.

When I fell asleep I was actually dreaming about myself sitting in bed and reading a baby book. Only this book was about what you should be doing post baby. So as I sat there in the dream, full of bliss about the baby and reading this new informational book I came about a section on feeding the baby. Suddenly the panic started to set in a bit....in my mind I was thinking, "I'm supposed to feed it?!" So...I kept reading. There on the next page was a chart, very similar to what you would find on a dog food bag that compared age and weight to how many cups that baby should be getting each day. In the dream the baby was 22 weeks old, but outside of me...not inside. So I figured it out on the chart and realized that this baby is supposed to be getting 5 cups of milk already.....and I haven't fed it once! Freaking out I pick up the tiny baby, who is totally alive and healthy looking mind you after 22 weeks of not eating. I then scamper around the house trying to find something to feed this baby with and finally throw the bottle together. As I cradle the baby in my arms and go to put the bottle in its mouth the baby has suddenly turned into a puppy.

The moral of this dream.....I am scared out of my whits at the thought of taking care of a baby and wondering if I will do a good job and apparently feel that I am only capable of taking care of a puppy. The end.

In love....

This year the hubby and I decided to take all the change we had saved up, cash it in and use it to buy a "house" Christmas present. Basically something we would both want instead of spending a ton on each other. See, both of us have our bday's in January...one week apart...and it just was making less sense to spend a bunch on each other at Christmas and then turn around and do it again a couple weeks later. So, we decided to go with a Blu-ray player. I wanted it to stream the Netflix. The hubby wanted it because he likes new electronics. Perfect.

I have to say I LOVE IT! It has Netflix, Youtube, Blockbuster and Pandora. The Netflix can be hit or miss and you definitely can't watch a movie while browsing the internet, but when it works the picture is great and there is a whole library of movies to see. We haven't really watched a Blu-ray worthy movie yet...but I want to go pick one up. Any recommendations?

Anthropologie

you have done it again! Let's start by saying this store has great stuff. I'll follow it up with the fact that I never really shop here. We only recently got one in our area and as adorable as their stuff is I do not fit into most of the clothes, the clothes I have bought fell apart way to quickly for the price and seriously...the prices?! Eek.

Anthro does have a membership card. It's one of those freebie things where you sign up and get emails and all that jazz. The other thing you get is a birthday card. Last year it was adorable and was posted on the blog. This year, equally as adorable! With this card I can get 15% off a purchase in the month of January. The kicker is this cute little birthday candle came off and is actually a necklace. I mean, it just doesn't get much cuter than that.

So sad.

Well, we are officially back at home after a long 12 hour car ride. Like all the other years, the Washington trip did not disappoint. We had some fun day trips, had fun relaxing, had great good and most of all a great time with the family. I will miss these lovely ladies (The Purple Posse), and a couple others that did not make the photo! As drunk as they were, I will miss these two buffoons. Oh, and don't think that there aren't a bunch of other drunk buffoons that didn't make this picture as well. Lastly, I will miss the kiddos. Kiddos that make me realize I am making a great decision having one of my own and bringing someone into this family.

The animals.

One of the best things about traveling up to Washington, aside from the family of course, are all the animals. They all have such great personalities and with Whisky thrown in the mix there were a couple of good laughs. It took FOREVER to get this picture. We really wanted the yellas on the outside and Jake in the middle and suddenly there they were. One of these doggies is an old geezer though and wouldn't stay standing for more than 5 seconds....I'll let you figure out which one it is!

The good thing about the old geezer is he is very malleable and there never fails to be a good picture of Bailey Jones with a hat or some sort of head wear on. This year DID NOT disappoint.

Then there was Whisky's favorite kitty. Even he got into the dress up game and was promptly humiliated by being forced to wear a Santa beard. This did not last long.

Overall Whisky had a great time and when he wasn't romping around he spent his time relaxing on the sofa with a good book.

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a wonderful New Years last night and didn't get into too much trouble. I myself drank water and was able to stay up till midnight and then promptly went to bed. I did jazz stuff up though with the fancy glass.

It's hard out there for a pimp...well a pregnant pimp that is.
